As you know by now, I love traveling for races. I love the excitement that builds up while you are training to not only run the race, but take a vacation too. I also run a lot of local races as well. Sometimes I run them for a proof of time and sometimes I run them as a training run for a longer distance. I’ve definitely discovered my favorite races in Atlanta along the way.
Call me a race snob, but I’ve become rather picky about the quality of a race production. I put my trust and money into a race, thinking that there will be water, timed chip, safety precautions taken and cool swag. I always know that if a race is produced by the Atlanta Track Club, it’s going to be well organized and worth the money.
My favorite race, produced by the Atlanta Track Club, is the Atlanta Women’s 5k. I’ve run it consecutive years now (you can read last year’s race recap) and I always leave happy. First off, I’ve got a thing for women’s races. You can feel the empowerment and encouragement between the female runners and it’s very uplifting. The course also runs through a beautiful Atlanta neighborhood.

From 2016 Atlanta Women’s 5k
This race has excellent swag that doesn’t compare to other races. I like to participate in a race knowing that I’m getting good bang for my buck. They’ve always given something special. Last year it was a headband! It’s the little things. Plus, you get an awesome medal for a 5k. That doesn’t happen in Atlanta. Most of the time you need to run a half marathon for decent bling in Atlanta.

2015 Swag!
Please note: The 2017 Atlanta Women’s 5k will not have a stroller division.
