Life always seems to happen when you least expect it. As a Mom of two boys, our family is constantly busy with preschool, sports, traveling and work. Any extra time we have goes towards spending time with each other. Lately, my youngest has been battling the agonizing stages of teething. When he spiked a fever last week, my concerns grew that it was something beyond teething. For the first time ever, I used Amwell – a doctor consultation app (promo code “MOM35” for 25% off).
Amwell: The Time-Saving Doctor Consultation App
Amwell is a tele-health company that provides access to board-certified physicians via your phone, tablet or desktop. The live-online visits offer a personalized doctor visit from the comfort of your own home. Day or night, Amwell is the doctor consultation app that is ready whenever you need it – day or night. The Amwell doctors encounter minor illnesses and injuries, general health and wellness concerns, prescription refills, and chronic condition management.
How Amwell Works
I downloaded the free Amwell app directly onto my phone and started to fill out my profile. I answered a few background information questions and gave them the contact information to the pharmacy that’s convenient for me.
After requesting an urgent care visit (starting at $59) for my toddler, I was able to pick the physician of my choice. I saw their area of expertise and where they received a medical degree alongside their photo. Of course, I picked Dr. Lisa Cosgrove who was a pediatrician available immediately.
It was great to see her right away, without the hassle of driving both kids to a doctor’s appointment. I don’t have to risk exposing my oldest to germs while taking care of my youngest. Dr. Lisa listened to my concerns, asked questions, looked at Charlie and gave me the peace of mind I needed. You can even send photos directly to the physician. She looked a photo of his gums and we talked about his symptoms.
She reassured me that he was teething, but gave us a course of action to stay on top of his pain. We didn’t need a prescription, but Amwell can send a prescription in electronically to your pharmacy.
I definitely prefer the convenience of Amwell over a traditional doctors visit for something like my youngest experienced. It fits into our lifestyle and it’s cost effective.
