Disney and Points of Light are teaming up to find the first-ever Disney Volunteer Family of the Year! It’s an exciting process that honors families who volunteer together. I love Disney’s philanthropy efforts and I’m even more excited that a local Atlanta family has been selected as a top 30 finalist year.
About Disney Volunteer Family Of The Year
According to research, parents place a high value on volunteering as a family, but a major barrier to volunteering is a lack of family-friendly opportunities. Disney has the opportunity to encourage the importance of family volunteering, while also promoting the goodwill and deeds of US schools and nonprofit organizations.
The Disney Family Volunteering Reward Program has made an incredible impact since its launch in January 2018, mobilizing nearly 600,000 volunteers representing more than 106,000 families, generating over 2.7 million hours of volunteer service. So far, more than 12,000 projects have been completed, representing all 50 states.
Disney and Points of Light have launched a nationwide search for the Volunteer Family of the Year in celebration of the Disney Family Volunteering Reward Program’s incredible impact.
Families at home have the opportunity to vote for the incredible volunteers who have each worked together to go above and beyond to make their community a better place.
How To Be Selected As A Disney Volunteer Family Of The Year
Nonprofits and schools registered for the Disney Family Volunteering Reward Program can nominate an exceptional volunteer family for this contest. Disney and Points of Light have inspired more than 2 million hours of service through the Disney Family Volunteering Reward Program, which rewards eligible U.S. nonprofits and schools for hosting family-friendly volunteer projects with Disney Parks tickets.
Bob Chapek, Chairman of Disney Parks, Experiences and Products speaks about the magic of families volunteering together:
“We believe that when families play, explore, learn, and work together, the scene is set for magical memories that last a lifetime. Family volunteering deepens bonds, and strengthens communities — and with a little pixie dust in the form of a visit to our parks, this program has made a significant difference.”
The winning family will receive a trip to Walt Disney World Resort for a weeklong dream vacation – and will join Disney for a super celebration on Family Volunteer Day, November 23. Plus, the organization or school that nominated the winning family will receive a grant of $10,000 to continue their great work in the community.
