Remember the magic of your Disney vacation and make a vacation keepsake that you can proudly display in your home! This craft is perfect for young kids, with the help of an adult, and the end result is a fun Mickey shape commemorative. We placed ours on our mantle, but the possibilities are endless. Kids will love making this with you!
Here is what you’ll need! Basic craft paint and cheap craft brushes will be fine.
Pour 1/2 Cup of table Salt and 1/2 Cup of Flour into the large bowl. Add 1/4 Cup of water.
Using your hands, knead the materials into dough. Add extra water, if necessary.
Use a rolling pin and roll the dough out to 1/4 inch thick. Place your cookie cutter (see link to buy below) or use this Mickey Cut Out. If using the cookie cutter, press firmly.
Cut around the Mickey shape to trim the excess dough.
Place your child’s hand over the Mickey head and press firmly. Keep their hand in 1 spot.
Bake at 200 degrees for 3 hours. Let cool.
Paint the Mickey shape! Paint the entire base red and the ears black, then let dry. Go back over with white paint to cover the hand. You can use a black Sharpie to write something on the inside of the hand (see below) once dry. VARIATION #1: use pink paint for a Minnie Mouse look. VARIATION #2: Cut a hole at the top, between the ears, for an ornament.
I hope you have a fantastic time making this craft! It’ll be the perfect keepsake to remember your vacation. Don’t forget take a photo of yours and share it on my Facebook page!
