Are you one of the millions of Disney Plus subscribers or possibly thinking of taking the plunge? It’s the newest streaming network that offers classic Disney, Pixar, Marvel films (amongst many others) and Disney fans are diving into the fresh original Disney content that’s available. This Disney Plus Lady and The Tramp Review happens to showcase the first film we watched as a family on the new streaming service.
We picked out Lady and The Tramp as the first movie to watch because, well, dogs are adorable and we love the original 1955 animated Lady and The Tramp. The live-action version that was filmed specifically for the Disney Plus November 12th release date, follows the same storyline from the animated version.
Disney Plus Lady And The Tramp Review
Lady And The Tramp Storyline
In Disney+’s “Lady and the Tramp,” a timeless re-telling of the 1955 animated classic, a pampered house dog and a tough but lovable stray embark on an unexpected adventure and, despite their differences, grow closer and come to understand the value of home.
Refreshing Twists On The Classic Film
There are a few things that are very refreshing to see and a welcome change to the original film. They casted a mixed race couple to play Jim Dear (Thomas Mann) and Darling (Kiersey Clemons). While it took me a minute to notice, because it just felt so natural to see, it’s a great change and something that wouldn’t have been seen in the 1955 film.
Secondly, there’s an adorable back to story that was one was the reasons I click play. This remake inspired Disney to cast a rescue dog that went from a kill shelter in Mexico to the set of the new Disney Plus film.
Why You Should Watch Lady And The Tramp
Tramp (voiced by actor Justin Theroux) takes Lady on an adventure that leads to independence and romance. Some of the scenes had some added comedy that might’ve fallen short with my kids – but gave me a good chuckle. From moonlight strolls to the famous romantic spaghetti dinner, you’ll find the same charm that the animated film delivered.
Filmed in Savannah, the scenery in the film is beautiful. You can really see the famous Savannah, Georgia squares, River Street, Forsyth Park and even the Savannah River. They did a great job with the CGI effects to put a victorian overlay on present day Savannah.
Lastly, they’ve carried some of the animated music over to the live-action version. Whether it’s “Bella Notte” or maybe the new sons performed by hit artists (Listen to the Lady and The Tramp Spotify Playlist) you’ll be humming the tunes long after watching the movie. The music updates the film and brings it to a modern level.
With so many great Disney Plus choices, this one should definitely be at the top of your watchlist. It’s a great family-friendly film that you can enjoy together. If your kids love animals, they’ll definitely appreciate watching Disney Plus Lady and The Tramp!
