To prepare your casserole ahead of time, you can start 1-2 days beforehand. You’ll cook the cheese sauce over the stovetop, add the potatoes and create your layers. Do not add the breadcrumbs. Place the three layers in the refrigerator. When you’re ready to bake it, just add your breadcrumb topping and place it in the oven. You’ll want to serve the bake fresh out of the oven, when it’s hot.

Step-By-Step Directions To Make Cheesy Broccoli Potato Casserole
In a large saucepan, melt 2 tablespoons butter. Stir in the flour, salt, numet and pepper until smooth.
Gradually add milk. Bring the mixture to a boil; cook and stir for 2 minutes until thickened. Remove from the heat. Add cheeses and stir until melted.
Lastly, add the thawed potatos and cheese sauce in a large bowl. Mix well.
Spoon half of the potato mixture into a greased 2-quart baking dish. Top with the broccoli and the remaining potato mixture. Cover and bake at 350º for 35 minutes.
