Tennessee moonshine is an American tradition and one our Southern family loves. There’s nothing better than sitting on the porch and sippin’ some shine. My Husband comes from a long line of moonshine connoisseurs and he’s carrying on the passion. This Blackberry Sage Hard Lemonade recipe is a savory and sweet summer cocktail.

The star ingredient is Sugarlands Moonshine. The Sugarlands Distilling Company is located in the breathtaking smokey mountains and near downtown Gatlinburg, Tennessee. They have an award-winning line of spirits including moonshine, cream liqueurs, rum, and rye whiskey. Thousands of guests visit each month to sip the spirits and tour the distillery.
I’ve been enjoying several of their flavors this summer: Blockader’s Blackberry Moonshine and Pina Colada Moonshine. The Blackberry ‘shine has a delicious blend of berry, floral fragrances of honeysuckle, and blended with lavender. It’s sweet but has a smooth finish. It makes for a great cocktail base.
Of course – they are packaged in the quintessential Southern major jar.

You can bring the spirit of Gatlinburg to your porch while you enjoy this Blackberry Sage Hard Lemonade! Moonshine is a great option for mixing because it tastes great on its own as well. My recipe is inspired by favorite herb and berry flavor combinations that you can find in steakhouses. They balance each other perfectly.

How To Make Blackberry Sage Hard Lemonade Using Moonshine
This recipe is easy to throw together and has a savory flavor blended with sweetness. Enjoy a Summer BBQ, or outdoor concert, or relax with a great book and sip. I’ve got some great ideas on how to pair the cocktail and make it your own!

When To Make This Moonshine Cocktail
This is a sweet and savory cocktail. Blackberries are ripest, and in season, during the summer months. It’s light and refreshing – perfect on a hot day. Definitely make this cocktail for the summer months. Sip it by the pool, make it for an outdoor BBQ event, or serve it as a drink with dinner.
How To Make Fresh Lemonade
This recipe calls for fresh-squeezed lemonade. If you don’t have time for that, opt for a nice store-bought version (like Simply brand). However, if you have the time, homemade lemonade makes all the difference. As a bonus, homemade is a great base for other cocktails as well. You can make a big batch and divide it out for different cocktail recipes.
How To Make This Blackberry Sage Hard Lemonade For A Party
If you want to make this cocktail for a party and need a large batch, make it ahead of time. Don’t serve it over ice until the last minute. Keep everything in the refrigerator and don’t add any garnish. Double or triple the recipe (the original recipe serves 2). Prep the cocktail sticks ahead of time and add garnish – keep them in the refrigerator.
