It’s a flavorful cake and you don’t need to add anything technically. However, I’ve served it with a scoop of vanilla ice cream. I always make a big pot of coffee when we’re enjoying it for dessert. The cream cheese frosting is so rich already – you won’t need to make any whipped cream for it. Want some topping? Add walnuts on the top of the cake. It’s a little extra garnish.
How To Ripen Bananas Quickly
If you don’t have ripe bananas, but want to make this recipe, there are some shortcuts! To ripen bananas quickly, place them in a brown paper bag, fold over to close and check in a day. It has a natural chemical effect that will ripen the bananas. You can also add an apple for even faster results.

How To Make This Banana Sheet Cake Recipe
In a large bowl, cream butter and sugar until light and fluffy, 5-7 minutes. Beat in the eggs, bananas and vanilla.
Combine the flour, baking soda and salt; stir into creamed mixture just until blended.
Transfer to a greased 2-quart. baking pan or line with parchment paper. Bake at 350° for 30-35 minutes or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean. Cool in pan on a wire rack. For frosting, in a small bowl, beat cream cheese and butter until fluffy. Add confectioners’ sugar and vanilla; beat until smooth. Frost bars.

Ingredients
- 1/2 cup butter, softened
- 2 cups sugar
- 3 large eggs, room temperature
- 1-1/2 cups mashed ripe bananas (about 3 medium)
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 teaspoon baking soda
- Dash salt
- FROSTING:
- 1 package (8 ounces) cream cheese, softened
- 1/2 cup butter, softened
- 4 cups confectioners' sugar
- 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
Instructions
- In a large bowl, cream butter and sugar until light and fluffy, 5-7 minutes. Beat in the eggs, bananas and vanilla.
