A great appetizer spread makes a party! What you serve doesn’t have to be complicated though. Great food, that you can prepare ahead of time, makes for an easy party to host. One of our family’s favorite easy appetizer recipes are these Bacon Wrapped Brown Sugar Lil Smokies. They’re sweet and savory, and always a hit with guests. I always make them for our Super Bowl Party or a cookout. Everyone always asks me for the recipe, so I’m finally sharing it. I promise that they’ll be a big hit.

You can find the Lil’ Smokies in the refrigerated meat section of your grocery store. They’re usually packaged as 1 or 2lb bags – I used the larger 2 lb bag option for this recipe. If you want to prepare the recipe ahead of time, you can place the tray of wrapped smokies in the refrigerator until you’re ready to bake them.
Most likely, you won’t have any leftovers, but if you happen to have some – just place them in an air-tight container in the refrigerator. They can be microwaved for 1 -2 minutes to reheat.
Bacon Wrapped Brown Sugar Lil Smokies Recipe
In a slow cooker, pour 1 bottle (or can) of your favorite beer over the Lil Smokies. Cook on low for 3-4 hours.
After they’re done cooking, drain the leftover beer. Preheat the oven to 400º. Wrap a roasting pan with aluminum foil and place a cooling tray on top. This will help with clean up! Working one at a time, wrap each smokies with a half strip of bacon and slide onto a wooden skewer.
Bake for twenty minutes (at 400º), then flip the skewers and bake for another 20 minutes on the other side. While they bake, melt brown sugar and butter together on the stovetop. One melted use a pastry brush to spread over the smokies.
Let sit for 3-5 minutes. Slide the smokies off of the skewers and serve immediately with toothpicks.
