At the Peachtree Road Race Expo, I was invited to attend Jeff Galloway’s Corporate Wellness Workshop. Atlanta is so lucky to have an awesome running legend who lives amongst us (total fan girl here). The workshop was three hours long and covered group exercise, Jeff Galloway’s method of run-walk-run, injury prevention and nutrition.
I was the only one who didn’t work for a huge Atlanta-based corporation. Most attendees were corporate wellness leaders and I was there for my blog & personal growth. We all huddled around Jeff Galloway and hung onto every word he said. I was continuously distracted by his Olympic uniform, numerous awards and (of course) his Run Disney Dopey Challenge medals. You’d think with all of his awards & accomplishments that he’d have a certain elitist attitude, but he was far from it. Jeff Galloway is a genuinely kind person who wants to help all levels of fitness. The entire underlying message of the workshop was just “start moving”.
I was feverishly taking notes throughout the entire workshop since he had a plethora of information for us. I learned a lot that applies to my marathon training, such as how to properly fuel post workout. He clarified that I need to consume a snack within 30 minutes of my training that is 80% simple carbs and 20% protein. There is so much information in the fitnes industry that contradicts itself. It was wonderful to hear the clear and precise facts.
Over the next few weeks I will write several blog posts about the individual topics we covered. A three hour workshop definitely deserves more than one post. I’ll be sorting through my many pages of notes and re-living my fan girl moments for y’all.
If you’ve never been to one of Jeff Galloway’s workshops, I highly recommend trying to attend one. He offers workshops that cover topics like running form, nutrition and corporate wellness. It feels more like your talking to a close friend than an American running legend. Check out his website for which cities he’ll be traveling to. You won’t regret attending one.
