I absolutely love women centered races. The support from other female runners is amazing. I think they truly bring women together in the most uplifting way.
I ran the Atlanta Women’s 5k, hosted by the Atlanta Track Club, in 2015 and again this year. I have to say- this is a fun 5k with plenty of swag.
Each runner received a Mizuno tech race T-shirt, cute cotton headband with the logo on it, a rose, nice medal and post-race snack box. Atlanta Track Club knows how to pamper the women runners of Atlanta!
I lined up, in the last corral and stroller division, with plenty of fellow Moms pushing their tots. I had fresh air in my Bob Gear stroller tires and plenty of snacks for him. The gun fired and we were off!
Pushing JP up and down the Atlanta hills wasn’t easy. But the course runs through beautiful neighborhoods and there was plenty of crowd support. It felt slightly more crowded this year, but we just kept powering through and passing other runners.
Mom- if you want to feel strong and empowered, run a race pushing your child. Not kidding, I felt like a rock star as I passed runners without a stroller. Stroller running Moms, don’t ever doubt how awesome you are.
The finish chute was slightly uphill, but the crowd support helped us power through. I grabbed my medal with a smile on my face. JP kept himself entertained the entire time. I don’t think he looked up until we finished.
Atlanta Track Club always puts on well organized and fun events. I wish they had more 5k’s like this one, with a finisher’s medal. I’ll definitely keep this race on my yearly race calendar. It’s a must for all women- young, old, Mother’s and daughters.
