Until this year I had no clue how back to school affects a household! This is our family’s first experience with the back to school season and I can see the calendar filling up. Our schedules are crazy and there’s a sense of rush that takes over our days. I like to fight that feeling by embracing our mornings and fueling the family with a healthy start. Check out these easy 5 Ways to Rock Early School Mornings, and my Easy French Toast, to plan ahead for your next successful school week!
5 Ways to Rock Early School Mornings + Easy French Toast Recipe
1 – Start the Night Before Early School Mornings
The key to creating time on a school morning, starts the night before. If you plan outfits, make lunches and prepare backpacks the night before, you’ll have more time for the most important meal of the day – breakfast! The NEW Pepperidge Farm Swirl Oatmeal Bread is my healthy go-to quick breakfast option.
2 – Wake Up 10 Minutes Earlier
It might seem backwards, but waking up a tad earlier will help ease some of the chaos. You’d be surprised how much more relaxing the morning feels if you add a cushion of time. If you don’t end up needing the extra few minutes, it’s a great way to include some snuggles.
3 – Delegate the Early School Morning Tasks
My Husband is a huge help when it gets crazy. From brushing teeth and feeding the dog, the morning tasks can feel overwhelming. I divide up what needs to be done. He can pop my son’s favorite Pepperidge Farm Swirl Oatmeal Bread flavor – Apple & Cinnamon – into the toaster. By the time we come down stairs, my son has a warm breakfast ready to eat.
4 – Save Some Tasks for the Car
There are some early school mornings that work like a well-oiled machine. Other times, not so much. If I can save the task for later, I will. I keep an extra hair brush and sets of shoes in the car. If we happen to run late, it’s no stress because he can take care of things on the ride to school.
5 – Keep Breakfast Simple
A hearty grain and a piece of fruit is my favorite healthy breakfast to serve. Made with whole grains and no high fructose corn syrup, the Pepperidge Farm Swirl Oatmeal Bread has us covered. It’s also a great source of fiber and free of artificial colors, flavors and sweetness. The kids love it and it’s Mom-approved in our house.
Once their out of the house and on their way, it’s my time. That’s when I can finally take the chance to enjoy the morning a bit more leisurely. I might be guilty of staying in my sweatpants a bit longer if I can enjoy a hot cup of coffee and a delicious breakfast.
This EASY French Toast Recipe is the perfect way to enjoy Pepperidge Farm Swirl Oatmeal Bread. I love the thick slices and swirls of flavor. For this recipe, I use the Apple & Cinnamon flavor (it also comes in Maple & Brown Sugar). The apples make it slightly more indulgent and sweet.
You can make the batter the night prior and store it in the fridge for the following morning. I promise your family will love this on a leisurely weekend morning or you can just make it for yourself – I won’t tell!
