Dear Back to School Moms

Dear Back to School Moms,It's OK to be perfectly imperfect.

I can’t believe the 2016-2017 school year is beginning already. I have so many amazing Mom friends who have poured their heart out to me about the new year beginning. From the orientations to the overwhelming costs, I can see the stress building. I know you’ve got years of experience on me, but I applaud you…

Dear Back to School Moms,

It’s that time of year once again- the kids are off to school. I can hear your mixed emotions about the school year starting. You’re excited about the kids going back, but sad to say goodbye to the Summer.

You talk about the things you missed out on this Summer because of time constraints or the vacations you couldn’t afford. But I just saw the kids happily running around and laughing from yard to yard.

Today will be the beginning of new schedules, fresh starts and hopes for the school year. I know you’ve scoured Pinterest for ideas, for everything, from creative lunches to organizing backpacks.

Please don’t put the pressure on yourself to be that “perfect” Mom. Those ideas will fade and you’ll settle into the Mom you truly are, which is perfect enough for your kids.

As the homework piles start and the after school rush begins, just take a deep breath. At the end of the day, you’re still the same care-free family from the Summer.

Whether you’re a working Mom or stay-at-home Mom, don’t forget to take care of yourself during the school year. Your health and sanity is vital to your family. You deserve to put yourself and your health first because your kids need YOU.

Take that workout class, read that book you’ve been putting off or have that glass of wine. You’ll be a better Mom for taking care of yourself too.

Before a blink of the eye, we’ll be on the other end of the school year. So relax a bit and take it one day at a time. Let go of any Mom guilt and just be perfectly imperfect.

Always,
Your Friend Who is in Awe of You

I love this letter. I made my mom read it. My brother is still in school, so she still has one kid to look out for. I know that when my friends start going back to class, I'll feel the sadness of not going back anymore. I just graduated college and can't believe school days are behind!

I'm not a mom but as someone who used to be a teacher I say Amen to this!

This is so me. School time is so hard trying to juggle it all and I love the carefreeness that the summer gives us. I'm going to miss it!
