Even though we’re in Atlanta’s hottest month of the year, it feels like Fall since school has started back. Seeing Halloween and pumpkin decor in the stores, makes me realize that I’m having this baby soon! I know I’m only one week further along than last week, but the pressure is on to be prepared.
I’ve been busy painting the nursery, stockpiling diapers and washing the hand-me-down clothes. Don’t worry, I’ve been doing my fair share of layette shopping too! With my energy levels dwindling, the list of things to do becomes more daunting. I’m just taking it one day at a time and one doctor appointment at a time.
My first born, JP, has had some sudden realizations about his new reality too. He’s been watching me prep the baby room and he’s finally asking questions and talking about the baby. It’s hard to comfort a toddler that their future will change, but not our love for him. In the meantime, I spend as much time with him doing fun family activities… things that’ll be harder to do when the baby is born.
At the end of the day, I take the time to bond with the baby. It’s exciting because I can feel his kicks and wiggles now.
While I relax and enjoy his sweet movements, I like to read updates on how he’s growing. I’ve discovered Pregnancycalculator.net to read weekly updates about my pregnancy and his growth. During a long and crazy week, this quiet time is what I look forward to the most.
I’m really looking forward to baby boy #2 this Winter. He’ll be a great holiday blessing to our family. I’ll probably be busy all day with my toddler and up all night with the newborn, but it’s these crazy years that look back on and admire the most.
