This Spring, Run Disney will be welcoming back the Star Wars Dark Side Half Marathon weekend for the third year. With the cancelation of the Disneyland Star Wars Lightside races, disappointed fans were eager for some good news. This week, the 2018 Run Disney Star Wars Dark Side Medals were unveiled and ‘they’re out of this world’. The Dark Side weekend is April 19-22, 2018, at Walt Disney World Resort in Orlando, Florida.

Each medal is designed with plenty of detail to keep the die-hard Star Wars fans happy. The designs are inspired by Star Wars: The Last Jedi villains. They’re a celebration of the First Order and my favorite Dark Side medals yet!
The Kid’s Races: BB-9E
The 5k Medal: The Executioner Stormtrooper
The 10k Medal: Pretorian Guard
The Half Marathon: Captain Phasma
The First Order Challenge: Kylo Ren
The First Order Challenge medal (formerly the Dark Side Challenge) is given to runners who complete the 10k and half marathon. The Run Disney challenges are very popular amongst runners and are the hardest to sign up for. If you’re interested in the challenge, and it’s sold out, contact a Run Disney Travel Agent.
Sign Up for The Virtual Star Wars Half for the Kessel Run Medal
With the absence of the Disneyland Light Side Star Wars weekend, Run Disney has created a virtual race to take it’s place. The inaugural Star Wars Virtual Half Marathon can be completed at home, at your own pace. If you’re already registered for the Dark Side Half Marathon or First Order Challenge, you may want to consider signing up for the Star Wars Virtual Half.
Those who are signed up for both, will be awarded the Kessel Run Medal.
