I was given a 2018 Mitsubishi Outlander to review. All opinions are my own.
From the carpool line to picking up dinner, my car needs to keep up with my life as a Mom. I like vehicles that accommodate my whole family and, most importantly, keep us safe. I had the opportunity to test drive the new 2018 Mitsubishi Outlander 3.0 GT. I put the SUV to the test by driving it from Atlanta to Jacksonville – from a rare snow covered week to the sands of Florida’s eastern coast.
With third row seating and loaded with options, the Outlander easily catered to our family’s needs on the road trip. Comparing it to the classic Mom choice – the minivan – you usually lose trunk space when there is third row seating. We comfortably fit all of our luggage and two carseats without any hassle. Check out the features we loved about the 2018 Mitsubishi Outlander and why it fits my #MomLife.
Updated Features of the 2018 Mitsubishi Outlander
Safety is always first for us and the 2018 specs include features that make our family feel comfortable. Blind-Spot Monitoring, Side-Mounted Airbags and the Back Up Camera helped support safe driving while on our trip.
There’s also a 360-degree camera that creates a simulated bird’s-eye-view for tight parking situations. This allowed me to see from all directions to make sure I wasn’t parked too close. You know how kids just swing the door open without looking at the distance from the car parked next to you? We had no issues thanks to this wonderful feature!
The heated seats and auto climate control kept our family comfortable as we went from freezing Atlanta temperatures to the beach. I liked that I could divide the controls to different zones if the kids needed it warmer or cooler.
Some of the updated performance and technology features include: Bluetooth, USB ports, Audio Controls on the back of the steering wheel and 166hp. I had no problems hopping on the highway and changing lanes with ease. The Audio Controls are a nice touch to keep you focused on the road.
My personal favorite was the touch screen information display. It controlled the radio, satellite radio and GPS. With only a week’s time, I was a pro at controlling it. The programs were very user-friendly.
2018 Mitsubishi Outlander: Built For Families
Simply put, the 2018 Mitsubishi Outlander makes life easier. With the third row seating, safety latches for carseats, side airbags and climate control – it’s built with families in mind. If you’re reading this as a Mom, you know how easily vehicles can frustrate you when you’re traveling with kids. I’m happy to report that we didn’t have any issues!
Installing carseats was easy and putting kids in the back wasn’t difficult because they rear doors stayed open easily. There are also plenty of rear cupholders and leg room to accommodate kids of all sizes. The leather interior was easy to keep clean and there are two seat back pockets available for storage (on the driver and passenger seats).
Here are a few of the features that Moms will love:
- 6-Speed Automatic Transmission
- Power Folding & Heated Sideview Mirrors
- 7 Passenger Seating
- Heated Front Seats and Steering Wheel
- 22 MPG Fuel Economy ($1,900 Annual Fuel Costs)

Exterior Aesthetics Designed to Please
The Rally Red Metallic paint looked great in our driveway and it’s the type of vehicle that I like being seen in. I might even say, it makes me look like the “Cool Mom” which is a nice alternative to the usual. The chrome accents around the molding and grille are nice touches that help the exterior design flow from front to back. Continuing to impress, the rims were a nice upgrade the previous models.
Overall, I highly recommend the 2018 Mitsubishi Outlander because it’s an SUV designed with families in mind. Whether you’re driving in the snow or headed to the beach, like us, you’ll be quite comfortable. This the car that can finally keep up with your life.
