Walt Disney World announced new changes to the 2017 Disney Dining Plans. While the majority of the plans stay the same, a big change is coming to the Quick Service Dining Plan. The new 2017 Quick Service plan takes away the dessert option to add a 2nd snack credit to each day. Check out the changes below:
2016 Disney Dining Plan
Quick Service Disney Dining Plan
- 1 Entree
- 1 Non-Alcoholic Beverage
- 1 Dessert
- 1 Snack Credit
Refillable Resort Mug
For some, this meant a heavier meal than desired without any flexibility of changing the dessert for a different option.
2017 New Quick Service Disney Dining Plan
- 1 Entree
- 1 Non-Alcoholic Beverage
- 2 Snack Credits
Refillable Resort Mug
The Entree and beverage will be a counter service meal (2 total per day). The 2 snack credits can be used anywhere a snack credit symbol is found. Upset about losing your dessert option? You can exchange a snack credit for use of a dessert. So this new plan for 2017 offers plenty of flexibility for the Quick Service Disney Dining Plan. The regular Disney Dining plan will also include a 2nd snack credit, per day, for 2017.
How Will This Benefit Run Disney Runners?
I think runners will definitely feel the benefit of the 2 snack credits available. Most runners pass on the heavy food prior to a race, like dessert. But the added snack credit will allow runners to purchase extra food (like a banana or energy bar) to save for race morning. A lot of Run Disney runners panic when they discover hardly any food options are available at 3AM for purchase.
Another benefit of the extra snack credit is the option to buy a bottle of Dasani water. Granted, Disney offers free tap water at any quick service location. But many tourists don’t care for the hard water of central Florida.
I definitely think the 2017 changes to the Quick Service Disney Dining Plan will be welcomed by runners. Prices will be announced next to accompany this information. Good news– that dessert will still be an option for a nice post-race celebration treat!
